Descent of the family

Yesterday my Aunt and Uncle (he of letter writing fame....or should that be notoriety?) came up to see me. As I was going to meet them, I had to walk through the bit of Cambridge that the Queen had decided to visit. There were SO many people...much elbowing ensued....I'm only ickle after all! She drove past eventually....all I could see was that she was wearing a yellow hat. Very exciting.

After the crowds has dispersed we went on a mooch around Cambridge and then had cake in my room. We went out for dinner at Browns with Lynsey and David, which lasted from 7.30 till almost 11! They really are good to talk to.

Today Mutti is arriving, and I'm really looking forward to it! (I've even tidied up a bit *gasp*) We're hopefully going punting with Fi and her friend Katy, and then there's a formal hall tonight, where she will be exposed to the special brand of lunatics that are my friends! hehehehehe.

Right...am going to go and read my book now

Bye bye x

return of the Jaffa Cakes

I've had a really good couple of days. Lounged about and read a book on Saturday, and watched my Dylan Moran dvd...almost died by inhaling a grape I was laughing so much. Yesterday Vati came up to visit and we went for lunch and then played Star Wars Risk with David.....taking over the universe is remarkably satisfying of an afternoon!

Today I have been faffing around and not doing very much! I wrote a couple of poety things this morning and tweaked a couple of existing ones. I want to enter a fabby fab competition where you can get an anthology of your work published if you win...nothing ventured..nothing gained. I need to get a manuscript of 24 together soonish though....I have 55, 20 of which I'm vaguely happy with. Meh. More faffing needed I feel!

Also went into town with the lovely Ella on the hunt for may ball skirts....Sainsbury's was calling to me though...and when I got in...a huge packet of jaffa cakes hurled itself into my basket...I don't know how it happened.........

*pause while Jen stuffs her face with aforementioned cakes of delight*

have nothing else remotely interesting to report, shall go away

oooooooh yeeeeeah!

Exams are done!

Such a good feeling. Last one was a pain in that I didn't manage my time very well, so the conclusion to the last essay was about two lines long and not hugely intelligent. But I don't care! My brain can now effectively go into hibernation until October.

I'm going to go and have ice cream with Lynsey now!

day of rest

Yesterday was a 5 hour exam filled day of joy! But they didn't go too badly....I realised to my horror that I had in fact eaten 9 chocolate digestives by the end of the day though....and 2 chocolate muffins and a pack of haribo....I am a pie. But, I blame the stress!!! We watched Mary Poppins in the evening (ah maturity) and it was great! I'd forgotten how much I love that film.

Exams finish tomorrow (wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooohaha) and I plan to sit and read a book in peace. A book that has NOTHING to do with linguistics, or dead german people...it will be such a novelty. In the gaps that I've got between relatives visiting over the next few weeks, I'm gonna get writing some poetry as well..as I've hardly written anything for ages and I miss it.

Today has been good. Went for lunch with David and Lynsey at the Copper Kettle, and then did a good solid 3 and a half hours revision this afternoon, so am feeling pretty confident(ish) about tomorrow.

I'm going to skulk away into the night now though
